Dent de Cuir was a French-Canadian duo of video directors Benjamin Mege (b. 1986) and JP Chartrand, active between 2011 and 2019 and best known for music videos and interactive projects. Their work was featured in various media, from Vice and Noisey to Arte (4) and Creative Review. Benjamin and JP both continued working solo after dissolving Dent De Cuir. The project started with an unofficial fan-made video for Siriusmo's Idiologie track from the Mosaik album. After JP came up with a catchy name for the project, Dent De Cuir published the clip. The label team at Monkeytown Records liked it so much that they soon commissioned a newly-formed duo for their first official video: Evil Twin (2012) by Modeselektor featuring Otto Von Schirach on vocals. In 2014, Dent de Cuir directed 5556053 by DyE featuring Egyptian Lover, a "psycho-sexual naughty horror story" inspired by John Stezaker's collages and produced by Angélique Bosio. This video brought Mege and Chartrand professional accolades, including BFFF Award for "Best Emerging Artist" at the Berlin Fashion Film Festival and Grand Jury Award nomination at SXSW Film Festival. In 2015, Dent de Cuir directed a conceptual video for Breakbot's . Two years later, Dent de Cuir presented their best-known work and the first major label's video: Bon Appétit (2017) by Katy Perry with Migos. It was nominated at MTV Video Music Awards and MTV's Europe Music Awards, winning at VMA in Japan.
