Australian singer and music hall performer b. Bendigo, Victoria in 1873 - d. Los Angeles, U.S.A. on 26 June, 1910. Took his mother's maiden name of Hamilton for his stage name during what was a tragically short career. Left Australia for San Francisco in 1899. Two years later travelled to Britain where he made his debut at the Empire Music Hall in Leicester Square. By 1902 he was back in the U.S. for an engagement, after which he returned to Britain. Returned to the U.S. in 1906 for 58 week season win the Keith Circuit, and continued touring in Australia, Britain and the U.S. He began recording in London in 1903, making both cylinders and discs for many companies including The Gramophone Co., Edison, Nicole, Odeon, Columbia, Lambert, Sterling, Favourite, Beka, Jumbo, Clarion, & Pathe and recorded in the U.S. for Victor c.1910.
