Zonophone Record

European label, originally a variant of Zon-O-Phone Record administered by International Zonophone Company, German Branch of Universal Talking Machine Manufacturing Company. In 1903 it separates from the American Zon-O-Phone and becomes a label of Gramophone & Typewriter Ltd.- Active from 1902 to mid 20s. Zonophone Record pressings first appear in 1902 in the UK and Germany, published by International Zonophone Company. In By the late 00s British Zonophone Record is administrated by The British Zonophone Co. Ltd. while continental European records are managed by International Zonophone. Continental records continue being managed by International Zonophone until the onset of WWI. After the war, all international Zonophone Record are managed by branch companies of The Gramophone Co. Ltd.. The label is phased out by the mid 20s in favour of the shorter Zonophone.
