Marmota

Ecuadorian rapper, beatmaker, songwriter and producer. Born: November 22,1980 (Guayaquil) Died: June 08,2020 (Quito) Marmota was born in the south center of Guayaquil. When he was a child he moved with his family to Quito, where he lived in the Turubamba neighborhood, south of the city. Already in adolescence, living in the north of the city of Quito, and in the mid-90s he discovered rap along with his friends ( Equis, Chévez) created the Hip Hop band called "La Rapbia". Then with a friend from the neighborhood called "Doble H" and his brother named Langolier, they created the band El Bloque. In those years he learned to produce music for himself, for his friends and for other people. When he returned to Guayaquil to live for a few years, he produced a music demo called "Guayaquil Underground" with the participation of several rappers from that city. After the breakup of the band El Bloque, Marmota took a break from the band to pursue a solo career, so he produced a demo called "Superskunk Hits", then a DVD called "Full Marmota 2007", and in 2008 he released his first professional album called Coima. In 2010, he produced his second professional album called Vamo A Ver. He has traveled to Colombia and Perú on behalf of Ecuadorian hip hop, as a guest at the event called "Hip hop al Parque" (2006 and 2015) and at the "Meeting of Styles" in Lima (2011 and 2014). He organizes important events such as "BATALLA DE BEATMAKERS EC", which is a meeting of Hip-Hop producers in South America including Ecuador, which has been held since 2014. As a producer of hip hop music, one of his main projects, is the discovery of new talents both inside and outside the country, translating them into the compilation album called Rap De Colección Vol.1 (2012) and the Rap De Colección Vol.2 (2015).
