Talan (2)

Talan were formed around 1988, when Craig Ridsdale split from Samurai and Phil John from Preyer (and earlier, from Nightime Flyer). They recruited Steve Palmer on guitar, Adrian Bamford on bass and Paul Burnette who was in various Cardiff bands including Ashmata and a stint in Tredegar. That lineup stayed together for a couple of years, one demo tape was recorded which included invasion and 2 other tracks. Paul left and was replaced with fellow Cardiff singer Dave Evans who sung on the single. The band played mostly around the South Wales area but also played a few gigs in England. Dave, Adrian and Steve left after a year or two and were then replaced with Wayne Harding on vocals, Steve Cole on bass and Shane on guitar. This lineup recorded a few demo tapes over the next couple of years but also was playing quite a few covers in the set by then. The band split around 1992. Craig and Phil were playing in a covers band up until 2 years ago, called Joe Public. The band released in 1990 the 7"single "Spellbinder" and in 2021 copies remaining were bought by UK label DYAMOND ROXX (part of PROGAOR) and was released a very limited release pack with a CDr (containing the 7" tracks and all demos) presented in a cardboard cover inside the original 7"single, hand-numbered to 100 copies. 25 of these copies sold exclusively on the PROGAOR.COM mailorder had a copy of a promo photo from 1990.
