Swiss conductor, born 30 July 1929 in Thusis, Switzerland and died 12 February 2002 in Chur, Switzerland. He was especially known for his interest in 20th century Swiss composers. He led over 100 premieres of contemporary works, many of which were dedicated to him. 1957 Tschupp founded the Kammerorchester (Chamber Orchestra) Camerata Zürich which he led until his death and that played a decisive role in the rise of the modern Swiss chamber music repertoire. From 1976 to 1988 Räto Tschupp was a professor at the Hochschule für Musik (Conservatoire) Karlsruhe, where he taught conducting. From 1989 to 2001 Tschupp was chief conductor of the Aargauer Symphonie Orchester.
