He first sang on steamships going from the U.S. to the Caribbean and back. Later, he began a radio show for NBC in Philadelphia. After a four-year engagement in the military, he headed to the West Coast, where he was showcased on radio, television, and Hollywood nightclubs. He was a New York guest on "The Frankie Carle Show", "The Kate Smith Show", "The Arthur Murray Show", and others.
