Peter Paul Kellogg, Ph.D. (b. December 13, 1899 d. January 31, 1975), professor emeritus of ornithology and bioacoustics. Professor Kellogg was best known for his work in recording and analyzing bird songs and other natural sounds. One of his most highly regarded accomplishments, with help from a student, Peter was the adaptation of using a parabolic microphone system to record sounds in nature, after having seen a photograph of a reflector being used in a theatre to catch the voices of actors on stage. Kellogg studied under professor Arthur A. Allen, Ph.D. at Cornell University. Kellogg became a professor at Cornell while in graduate studies, and continued to teach there until his retirement in 1966.
