Об исполнителе:
Raised in the culturally rich and musically diverse Detroit, MI area, Scott started his first band in the early 1990's at the age of 15 and DJ’d his first underground Detroit party just 2 1/2 years later. Since then, he has been involved in an extremely eclectic variety of musical expression for over 3 decades. Playing guitar, drums, bass and singing for numerous bands during his High School days, he later joined Joe Philips (Few and Far Between) to start the much loved in the scene, but short-lived, 'Carrel' which played together for the remainder of the 90's. At the same time, he began acquiring synths and drum machines and was DJing underground parties under the name ‘Lucid’ throughout Detroit at locations like the Packard Plant, Timbos and The Firehouse along with appearances and in other cities in the midwest. A year or two were spent Djing on the East Coast while there for college but by the early-2000's Scott was back in the Detroit area engineering and producing local bands and artists in his basement studio, working with his own band 'Taking In A Lifetime' and producing electronic music. After a move to Ann Arbor for a job, Scott became friends with many of the Ghostly International crew, helped in large part by a local residency with Jakub Alexander (AKA Heathered Pearls). Jakub would soon start his Moodgadget Imprint and release Scott’s music under the alias ‘The Downtown Division’ as well as his given name. The latter of which would also appear later on a Ghostly compilation highlighting Moodgadget artists. In addition to throwing his own events at Necto and around town in Ann Arbor with DJ friends like Carlos Souffront and Gay Marvine, Scott joined the stellar first-wave cast of Matthew Dear, Mike Servito, Derek Plaslaiko, Ryan Elliot and Tadd Mullinex as a second-wave resident of the notorious Untitled parties in Detroit. This second wave of residents also included Eric Cloutier, Greg Mudge and Seth Troxler. In 2006, Scott moved to Chicago, IL where he quickly found homes DJing venues like Sonotheque, SmartBar, Lava Lounge, Beauty Bar and many more during his 12 years spent there. For a stint, he regularly contributed to the blog of the legendary dance music store Gramaphone Records and held multiple residencies around town. This led to his further releases on Fresh Meat Records using his House music alias ‘The Cushion’ as well remixes under the name ‘Scotty Brandon’. After more than a decade, burnt out on city life and the trappings of the modern DJ industry, Scott all but retired from dance music and moved to the mountains of Asheville, NC in 2018. Having picked up the guitar heavily again over the last few years, he reached out online to meet some like-minded individuals to jam with on some ideas he had written. This was the beginning of Shun, who would later release their debut album self-recorded and self-produced during the pandemic on Small Stone records in June of 2021. Scott continues to play guitar, co-write and sing backup for Shun while also occasionally playing records around Asheville.
