American singer, guitarist nick named Blues Boy Johnson, born October 16, 1932 in Augusta, Georgia. At age 16, he had his own band called "Bill Johnson and the 4 Steps of Rhythm Orchestra". Released his first recording in 1959, titled "Babaloo", and "You Better Dig It" in 1961. Relocated to New Jersey in 1962, where he appeared as a vocalist for The Soul Brothers, and met his collaborator Sam Gary (guitarist for The Soul Brothers), with whom he eventually formed Sam And Bill. Joey Cool's grandfather. Do NOT confuse with the rockabilly artist Big Bill Johnson (2).
