He is one of the most extraordinary and unusual guitarists of the last decades and lover of a good band around him, which prefers to play a little bit unsteady, weird and with its own focus and among other things from his long-time band partner in Sonic Youth, Steve Shelley (drums), who has also been at his side for quite some time now and who is again playing great and setting important accents, Deb Googe (My Bloody Valentine) on bass and Jon Leidecker aka Wobbly (Negativland) as electronic ornamenter. Vocally the charismatic singer practices this time as far as possible rather in restraint and sometimes also suddenly only in the song, but if then really well and with texts of the Londoner Radieux radio. The adrenalin goes really steep in the instrumental songs and passages with excellent atonal interlocking and an incomparable build-up of tension in the overlong songs (4x grandiose projectiles over 10 minutes). The album stays in a similar noise-rock habitat as Sonic Youth, but acts partly with different timbres, distortion sounds and elements and grabs you with its excellent dynamics.
