Orchestrola
Настоящее имя: Orchestrola
German label with Shellac releases. The label was established in 1928 and was active until 1932. The label name is owned by Schallplattenfabrik Pallas GmbH.
Label Code: LC 4160 / LC 04160
Releases were also manufactured in Germany for the Swedish and Swiss market.
The label was established in October 1928, after the merger of the Adler Phonograph AG with the Clausophon AG (owner of the label Clausophon) to the Orchestrola Vocalion A.G. (OVAG). A third shareholder was the "Vocalion (Foreign) Ltd."
In 1929, the Adler Phonograph AG sold its majority stake to the Küchenmeister-Konzern, owner of the company "Deutsche Ultraphon AG" (DUAG), and operating the label Ultraphon, which resulted in a close cooperation of OVAG and DUAG.
In May 1931, the Clausophon GmbH was established as 100% subsidiary of the OVAG. However, the new company was not allowed to use the brand Clausophon, which led to the establishment of the Pallas label (which after WWII became the Pallas Group, Diepholz)
After the bankruptcy of the DUAG, the Clausophon GmbH handled the manufacturing and distribution of Ultraphon, Adler and Orchestrola records until March 1932, when Telefunken took over the Ultraphon brand and back catalog. Orchestrola was then also given up as label name (but briefly reused as company name by Pallas after WWII: Orchestrola GmbH).
The company Clausophon GmbH was dissolved in June 1934.
The company OVAG was finally dissolved in May 1935.
The company was operating two pressing plants: one in Thalheim/Erzgebirge (between 1926 and 1937) and a second one in Berlin-Lichtenberg.
