Ace Of Diamonds
Настоящее имя: Ace Of Diamonds
Reissue label commencing in 1965, of earlier Decca SXL Classical series, showing redesigned sleeve artwork and offering the same sound quality at a fraction of the price of the originals.
Label Code: LC 00947
It is genearally regarded that as an Ace of Diamonds release came onto the market, the corresponding SXL release had already been withdrawn, and like other Decca releases, the grooved label ceased sometime in 1968. Some of the later Ace of Diamonds releases from the 1970's were indeed 1st label releases, not re issues (SDD 510 Schumann String Quartets and GOS 642-5 The Snow Maiden)
Many of the 1st label SXL issues, if they were released to Ace of Diamonds before 1967 on the grooved label were therefore only available in SXL as an ED1 (wide band grooved "Original recording by" at 10 O'clock) This short term of release in the SXL catalogue explains the apparant rarity of the 1st release, and also means that as a first Ace of Diamonds label, they are actually the second available label for the recording. Many 1st label Ace of Diamonds have the same Matrix numbers as the last known issue in the SXL catalogue, further confirming the deletion / re-issue sequence.
