The True Vine Record Shop is an American independent record store, opened in the early 2000s by Jason Willett and Stewart Mostofsky and located in Baltimore, Maryland. Current and former True Vine personnel include many notable local artists and musicians: Martin Schmidt of Matmos, Baraka (20), Owen Gardner & Max Eilbacher from Horse Lords, Dan Deacon, Will Ryerson (a.k.a. Microwave Background), Karl Ekdahl, and Jen Kirby. In addition to an expansive inventory of rare, experimental, radical and obscure music of all genres on vinyl, cassettes, CD, DVD, VHS, and Jad Fair's original artwork, The True Vine had been regularly hosting live gigs and events. Originally located on Hickory Avenue, The True Vine was forced to relocate to Station North in December 2018 after a rent dispute with a Tex-Mex restaurant. Global pandemics also negatively impacted the store, leading to a successful GoFundMe campaign in August 2021.
