Industrial Records is a record label established in 1976 by industrial music group and performance artists Throbbing Gristle. The group created the label primarily for self-releases but also signed several other groups and artists. The label gave a name to the industrial music genre.
September 1977
Industrial Records Ltd. - Officially founded - slogan "Industrial Music For Industrial People"
Officially registered on 6 January 1977, they received their Certificate of Incorporation (no. 1396998) on 11 June 1979.
January 1982
Industrial Records Ltd. - Company closed after demise of Throbbing Gristle.
During the 1980's many reproductions of the cassette releases were made including some by Flowmotion as well as many poor bootlegs.
4th November 2008
Industrial Records Ltd. - Company re-activated, releases sub-licensed through Mute/EMI.
23rd September 2010
Industrial Records Ltd. - Departed company with Mute/EMI and returned to independence.
The original logo of Industrial Records was an image of the crematorium of Auschwitz (TG interview RE/ Search #4/5 1982) Music from the Death Factory logo, after re-activating the label a look-a-like collage was used with inserts of the Tate Modern building.
