Kansas
Настоящее имя: Kansas
Kansas is an Italian label, active since the sixties, founded in Milano on the initiative of Domenico Seren Gay and Michele del Prete.
The first was a lyricist, music publisher and painter from Turin (owner of the Kansas music editions) who has decided to enter the recording world, and therefore comes into contact with Del Prete, a character linked to Clan Celentano and friend of Adriano Celentano.
The label takes its name from the musical editions, but while the latter were located in Turin (first in via Bologna 7 and then in Galleria Subalpina 3), the headquarters of the record company was established in Milan, in Galleria del Corso 4.
The best known name launched by Kansas is undoubtedly that of the group of I Camaleonti, who recorded the first two albums and several 45s for this label; however, there were many other artists signed, and among them I Ragazzi Del Sole and I Poeti.
In 1970 Del Prete abandoned the label and then the distribution, until then entrusted to the Clan Celentano, went to Dischi Ricordi; after a few years Seren Gay will move the headquarters to Turin (where the musical editions have been continued), distributing the records independently.
