Producers I Know
Настоящее имя: Producers I Know
Producers I Know launched in April 2010 as a producer based spinoff site of FWMJ's Rappers I Know. It was initially run by Jay Large, who managed a number of young UK producers who cut their teeth competing in the LouisDen Beat Battles. When the site launched, beat tapes were released for download via the Producers I Know Bandcamp & the original lineup of producers included Jon Phonics, Pete Cannon, ApaTight, Dockmini, Naive (Naive Machine), & Jeekay (Jeeks). In October 2010, Jay Large stepped down & relinquished the job of overseeing Producers I Know to Dart Adams.
In January 2011, Dart began collaborating with producers & beatmakers through his Scrunchface Show podcast & the website. Before long PIK was releasing & sponsoring beat tapes with outside talent, which prompted Dart to expand the ranks. He branded them Team PIK & following the departure of Jeeks he added D-Man, Shag, M-Slago, Jomac, Peace Of Mind & Buctayla to official roster. PIK has also released collaborations with J57, Yamin Semali, oriJanus, KuriOto, Veterano, ST/MiC & Dr. Khil among others in the past. Once Dart Adams decided to focus on writing he released less & less collaborations. Following having to ultimately scrap two major projects ("The Scott Pilgrim Beat Tape" & "The 80's Beat Tape") amid the fallout of the Boston Marathon bombing (which also killed the proposed 30th anniversary "Rock & Rule" beat tape), PIK went on hiatus.
In April 2015, Dart Adams decided to release what he had of the scrapped project "The 80's Beat Tape" & released in on the Bandcamp. Response on Soundcloud & Bandcamp led to DJ Soko alerting him to Nolan The Ninja who completed a beat tape titled "lo-fi l∞ps.". Once released in late May 2015, it broke all of the previous Producers I Know streaming & download records. Pat "313" Deegan alerted Dart to a producer named Foul Mouth who was working on a beat tape that would be called "Soul Louis". After weeks of collaboration between the three, a finalized version was completed. Once a marketing campaign, graphic design & visuals were conceptualized "Soul Louis" was released in late July 2015 then proceeded to shatter all of the previous PIK download & streaming records. It was then that PIK decided to have Fat Beats distribute these two beat tapes & release their future projects as an imprint going forward.
Dart Adams is the creative director of Producers I Know & operates as label head. His lead A&R's are DJ Soko (Left Of Center) & Pat "313" Deegan. Dart Adams is based in Boston, MA where he judges The Stew Beat Battle & Showcase and is co-host of MUSENOMIX with Dana Scott on MIT's WMBR 88.1 in Cambridge, MA Friday nights. Expect greatness...
