UJZ Kornstrasse Hannover

Legendary independent youth center, opened in December 1971. Got fame with the beginning of the punk - and new wave movement in 1979. Between 1979 to 1985 German bands like ZK (2) (Pre-Die Toten Hosen), Slime, Daily Terror and many more played there. From 1981 on big American punk and hardcore bands like Black Flag, D.O.A. (2), Minutemen, Hüsker Dü, Circle Jerks amongst others were recruited, but also English, Danish (City-X), Dutch (Nitwitz) and bands from other countries played there. The Youth Center still excist and occasional concerts of different kind of music take place, mainly punk concerts, primarily, however it´s a place of alternative leftist life and political activities.
