UJZ Kornstrasse Hannover

Legendary independent youth center, opened in December 1971. Got fame with the beginning of the punk - and new wave movement in 1979. Between 1979 to 1985 German bands like ZK (2) (Pre-Die Toten Hosen), Slime, [a251830] and many more played there. From 1981 on big American punk and hardcore bands like Black Flag, [a112586], Minutemen, Hüsker Dü, Circle Jerks amongst others were recruited, but also English, Danish (City-X), Dutch (Nitwitz) and bands from other countries played there. The Youth Center still excist and occasional concerts of different kind of music take place, mainly punk concerts, primarily, however it´s a place of alternative leftist life and political activities.
