Colin Davis Berlioz Cycle
Настоящее имя: Colin Davis Berlioz Cycle
This is a series, not a label on its own. Only add it in the Series field, in addition to Philips. Add it only when the Colin Davis Berlioz Cycle logo is on the cover of the album. Inclusion of an individual work in a box set with the Colin Davis Berlioz Cycle logo on it does not mean other releases of that work are in the Series.
Series of analogue recordings of Hector Berlioz's works made by Sir Colin Davis conducting The London Symphony Orchestra and London Symphony Chorus or John Alldis Choir; the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus Of The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; or the Orchestra Of The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Chorus Of The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Originally released on Philips between 1966 and 1983. The Colin Davis Berlioz Cycle logo made its first appearance on the 1966 reissue of Symphonie Fantastique.
Symphonie fantastique, Op. 14 H. 48
1st recording. With the London Symphony Orchestra on 16-18 May 1963 at Wembley Town Hall. Released 1963 as Philips AL 3441 (mono) and SAL 3441. It was re-issued several times on LP but The Colin Davis Berlioz Cycle logo appears on only two releases with new artwork Symphonie Fantastique and Symphony Fantastique .
This recording was advertised to be released on CD in 1987 or 1988 (ref: booklets from 7882449, 10094713 and 14279119, and Autumn 1988 (Gramophone Magazine, August 1988, p. 296, advertisement by Philips) as 416 959-2. However, it appears that catalog number was never used. The 1963 recording was released in 1988 together with Le Carnaval Romain, Op. 9 (which had already been issued on CD in 1986 on Philips 416 430-2) on Philips' mid-line reissue series Silver Line Classics as Philips 422 253-2
