Lightning S Records

Marvin Shilling was a renowned square-dance caller in the mid-20th century. He owned and operated the Lightning S Guest Ranch, which catered to Square Dance fans, in La Veta, CO. He started the associated record label in 1960 and recorded not only himself, but close to 20 different callers on more than 60 45rpm 7" records, before his death in 1962. Each caller is given his own label number. Marvin Shilling is 5XX, Tod Williams is 6XX, Buzz Brown is 7XX, and so on.
