Valmon began as a jewelry business in 1952 named after Mr. Valdez. Ben Moncivais created Valmon Jewelers in a rented area at Mr. Valdez' furniture shop. After almost a decade of running his jewelry store, Ben created Valmon Records in the late 50's. Ben Moncivais begun his dreams of owning and operating his own jewelry store & recording studio. He recorded for a lot of Austin's local chicano groups. Valmon jewelers & Records were in business 42 years.
Valmon closed their doors in Austin, TX in 1993, after strokes prevented Ben from working 100%. In his recording career Ben Moncivais produced records for artists Little Joe & The Latinaires also known as La Familia, Freddy Salas, Roy Montelongo, and Manuel Donley to name a few. In 2012 he was inducted into the Texas Music Museum in Austin, Tx. for his innovative techniques and additions to his recordings.
In 2013 Ben's grandson Benjamin Moncivais re-opened Valmon Records. Already in business more than 30 years, Valmon Records is working on re-releasing their old records.
