Melody Recording

Melody Recording Service was founded by audio technician and entrepreneur Mel Tollefson. It provided all-in-one service (arranging studio time, mastering, and manufacturing) for Twin Cities area amateur clients -- mostly scholastic (high school and college choirs and concert bands.) Recordings on the "Melody Recording" label are mostly of sacred / religious music performed by amateur (scholastic) rather than by professional musicians. The label's back catalog contains some so-called "private releases" in the non-scholastic vein, and these are mostly of religious (Gospel) music. The label operated from the the late 1960s until at least the mid-1980s.
