Leeds based DIY/post hardcore label. Obscene Baby Auction was and is a manifestation of the brotherly love and shameless self promotion of good pals Andy Abbott, James Islip, Giles Bailey and Graham Pilling, the then members of Kill Yourself. Obscene Baby Auction was conceived as being "less of a record 'label' and more of a collective that documents what's happening in the diy music community." Set up as a strictly vinyl only label at a time when the format was only starting to come back into favour, Obscene Baby Auction pressed its first music in March 2002 and has since continued to put music by bands it likes onto this format. In true DIY style, Obscene Baby Auction relied entirely for distribution onthe records carried by bands who are touring or independent record shops that contacted them. Obscene Baby Auction's concern was not to act as a promotional tool for bands wanting to 'break into' various scenes but to celebrate live music and people providing their own entertainment. "We aim to support and develop a national diy music community and provide souvenirs for you to treasure after seeing decent live bands", they stated on their website.
