Aztec Bowl was an American 12,500-seat football stadium at the San Diego State University campus in California, which acted as the home for SDSU Aztecs football team since the opening in 1936 until athletes relocated to Jack Murphy Stadium (now Qualcomm Stadium) in 1967. An additional 2,592 seats were installed at the arena in 1948.
Apart from the sports events, Aztec Bowl also hosted yearly commencement ceremonies. In 1963, President John F. Kennedy gave his speech and received an honorary doctorate of law degree there.
The last football game took place at Aztec Bowl in November 1966. During the following decade, the stadium was used for soccer matches, as well as several San Diego Symphony summer concerts. In the eighties, Aztec Bowl hosted a few rock concerts, including The Police in 1983. Lollapalooza Music Festival in the August of 1994 took place there. After the stadium closed, a basketball's Cox Arena (currently Viejas Arena) is located at the spot.
