South Indies

Label owned by Bill Direen. South Indies became part of the fledgling NZ music industry with the release of [m166217] in 1984. The following year South Indies bought Flying Nun's share in Beatin Hearts from Flying Nun Records, (that's The Builders' first album and Flying Nun's first album to be actually recorded in 1982 and mastered in 1983). In 1985 CoNCH3 was released, containing Dublin, Alligator Song, and many other great songs. Helped by a video made in partnership with Peter Bannan, this album was commercially successful and enabled releases by other groups. It was as "Good as Gold" by NZ standards but charts of sales were not sent to whoever did that.
