Race Series (The Negro And His Music)

Pre WWII jazz 78 RPM label The "Race Series" was issued from January 1936 through the end of the year with one record per month, with the remaining five records being between February and October 1937. The parlophone company never considered their "Race" series as part of the "Rhythm-Style" series. It was always listed separately and never published on the blue label "Rhythm-Style". Sales for the series were not overly high, even when combined with overseas sales, which resulted in many titles being removed from the catalog as early as 1942.
