Sue Records

Chris Blackwell started this UK branch of Sue Records Inc. (US) to license material by West Indian artists for release in the UK. Under the management of Guy Stevens, the label broke its agreement with the US company (the Sue Records (3) credit on labels was blackened at one point), and started signing and releasing R&B artists licensed from other labels, as well as some of its own signings. Most of these records will mention Island Records Ltd. as a distributor and will have Island's cat# scheme.
