Los Angeles, CA-based record company founded by Chicago-based record distributors Julius F. Bard & Franz Green in July 1945. Its Pan-American label released Jazz, Hawaiian, Hillbilly, Pop, and Latin-American music. In Oct. 1946, the Birwell Corporation, led by Alfred Birney and William Otwell, which had merged with Pan-American in May 1946, bought out the original founders. The company filed for bankruptcy in April 1947.
