Gumba Gumba
Настоящее имя: Gumba Gumba
South African label founded by prominent talent scout and producer Rupert Bopape in 1965. The label was operated by the Mavuthela Music Company, then the African division of Gallo Record Company. Like its associated imprint Motella, Gumba Gumba was core to the development and popularity of the electrified pop sound - later known as mbaqanga - during the 1960s and into the 1970s. The label featured releases from the Mahotella Queens, Simon Mahlathini Nkabinde, Abafana Baseqhudeni and several other popular "black music" artists from the Mavuthela stable. Mavuthela's labels were phased out in the late 1980s following Gallo's merger with Gramophone Record Co. (Pty.) Ltd..
