Berlincassette
Настоящее имя: Berlincassette
The BERLINCASSETTE was a series of releases compiled by J.A.R. and released via Jarmusic. The liner notes to Berlincassette 2-85 stated that the reason of these compilations is to present new cassette productions of various styles, but in reality there was a preference for various shades of new wave or electropop, sometimes presenting only excerpts. The interest from musicians to be on the cassette grew to a point where Jar could chose from bigger names, Pylon or My Bloody Valentine for instance. Many tracks were not taken from cassettes anymore, but from official vinyl releases or were unreleased.
Typical for the Berlincassette was the rooting for cassettes at a time where cassette culture was on its way out, and there were huge efforts made to spread the news around. At one point the number of copies made grew to more than 350, 50 of them sent free to radio stations and to the music press. During all those years the Berlincassette was still sold very cheaply, also the bands did not have to pay to be included, which very probably makes this a non-profit or even a sponsored project.
There's no trace of Jar Reinbold now, he seems to have left the scene he once worked so hard for.
