Precision Tapes Ltd.

Manufacturing and distribution company owned by Pye Records (Sales) Ltd., established in January 1970 as 50/50 joint-venture between GRT and Pye Records (Sales) Ltd.. Pye Records (Sales) Ltd. then took over the company completely by 1972. Also operated an 8-Track cartridge and tape duplication plant in Chadwell Heath between mid April 1970 and October 1978. Apart from handling Pye Records' and GRT's own material for the UK and Europe, the plant also manufactured and distributed material for a.o. Warner-Reprise, Island, A&M, Disney. In the early 1970s the company even had its own retail store in Dean Street, London. Around 1976, all distribution and storage was relocated to Pye's Mitcham facility. Because a modernisation of the duplication plant was exceeding the commercial benefits, Pye decided to close down the plant in Chadwell Heath and transfer the manufacturing of Pye and licensed material to Immediate Sound Services Ltd. by October 1978.
