DAK-Gesundheit, based in Hamburg, is a nationwide German health insurance company. It is a public corporation with self-government within the statutory health insurance. It is the German health insurance company with the oldest history, dating back to the year 1774. On 1 July 2016, the new DAK-Gesundheit emerged from the merger with BKK Beiersdorf AG. It was in 2016 with about 6 million insured the third largest German health insurance.
