The huge Berlin venue was built in 1910 and demolished on 13th of November 1973. It had a capacity of more than 10.000 people was made infamous for the speeches done by the nazis, esp. the speech of Joseph Goebbels, declaring the "Total War" in 1943.
It was also used for other political ralleys and conferences, as well as concerts, sports events such as boxing, cycling or even icehockey and scating. In 1919 it was also used as a cinema and declared the biggest cinema in the world.
It's ceiling was destroyed towards the end of the 2nd World War, yet the place was still used after that. After the war it was rebuild, albeit a little smaller.
The venue was then used mainly as a concert hall for many famous artist. Bill Haley performed in 1958, later Pink Floyd, The Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, The Nice, Ella Fitzgerald, Lionel Hampton, Count Basie, Klaus Kinski and Frank Zappa among others appeared on stage there.
