A/K/A Hanley Sound, Bill Hanley Sound Equipment Company and Hanley Studio. U.S. Company owned by Bill Hanley who is regarded as the "father of festival sound". He is most widely known as the sound engineer behind the Woodstock festival in Bethel, New York in August 1969. He was also influential in a number of other festivals, such as Festival Express , [m437523] / Woodstock - Music From The Original Soundtrack And More, Newport Jazz, Newport Pop, Message To Love ∙ The Isle Of Wight Festival 1970, The Complete Monterey Pop Festival, Altamont Free Concert (Gimme Shelter). Hanley Sound had offices in Medford (Boston) Massachusetts, and New York City, where they installed sound equipment in such clubs as the Cafe au Go Go, the Bitter End, and the Electric Circus. Although not generally a sound recording company, Hanley recorded performances for several live albums, the most famous being [m65120], [m118102], [m264671], and [m328173].
