Настоящее имя: オリジナル10 Inch LPコレクション From BN5000
Japanese (Toshiba-EMI) reissue series of 1950's era Blue Note 10" mono LPs. There were fifty limited edition titles reissued along with two "bonus" promo titles, and it was subscription-only (probably in Japan, need source to verify). Toshiba-EMI kept the catalog numbers of these reissues consistant with the original catalog numbers, but used the prefix "TOJJ" in place of "BLP". Both of these matrices were used on the labels and OBIs. In the US, this series was not subscription based and titiles were available for individual purchase via certain local retailers and online sellers.
These reissues were released from February through June of 1999, ten titles at a time. In addition, There were two bonus promo-only "Blue Note Club" titles that were available throughout the run that could be obtained via mail order by snipping a small "coupon" that was printed on the the lower right corner of the included insert. After collecting a certain number of these "coupons", you could obtain the bonus titles. These were: "Mellow The Mood" (BLP 5001), and "Swing Hi, Swing Lo" (BLP 5027). Both were issued without OBIs and did not include the gatefold doulble sided insert that was issued with all the regular titles. Both were stamped "Not For Sale" on the rear cover in English and had the Japanese equivalent printed on the labels. These 2 titles only exist as promos in this reissue series. They are pictured on the rear of the OBIs and also on the insert included with the 50 standard releases.
Note: All titles in this series were packaged in a clear plastic open ended outer sleeve as opposed to the typical Japanese resealable sleeve and therefore "sealed" copies don't exist.
The original Blue Note Modern Jazz 5000 series 10" LPs were released in the US from 1951 to 1955, and included a total of 70 titles.
