Solomon Alfred’s was a two-stage showcase music club located in Memphis, TN. The venue anchored the northeast corner of Madison and Cooper for eight years and was known as the Mid-South's oldest and best-known forums for rock and roll. Solomon Alfred's served as a clearing-house for hundreds of local and nationally known groups for more than a decade and closed in the July 1983. Solomon's officially closed with more than 1,000 patrons and nine local bands who rocked the place until 3:30 in the morning. It was demolished months later to begin construction of the French Quarter Inn, the square’s solitary experiment with hotels. The club was formerly known as The Godfather and The Spaghetti Store. People with even longer memories knew it as a gas station.
