International jazz festival in the Belgian town Comblain-La-Tour, organized for the first time in 1959 as a benefit to restore the church's roof. Driving force behind the jazz festival was American jazz impresario Joe Napoli, who had lodged in the town during the Battle of the Bulge. The festival quickly grew in stature with Comblain-La-Tour becoming known as the "European Capital of Jazz".
