New Beat Records

Initially set up in April 1968 by Pama Records as 'Nu Beat' to deal exclusively with both Jamaican and UK produced rocksteady. At the start of 1970 the label changed its name to 'New Beat' and began a policy of issuing only UK produced reggae (a policy that was continued till the end of the labels life span). The last release was in 1971. All releases were 7" singles with NB as the catalog prefix. For the Jamaican label with the same name, see New Beat Records (2).
