Pechanga Arena (historically known as the San Diego International Sports Center during 1966–1970, the San Diego Sports Arena during 1970-2004 & 2007-2010, the iPayOne Center during 2005–2007, and the Valley View Casino Center during 2010–2018) is an indoor arena, located on Sports Arena Blvd, in Point Loma, San Diego, California, USA, off of Interstate 8. The arena was built in 1966 by Robert Breitbard, a local football hero who played for Hoover High School and San Diego State.
Capacity:
● Boxing and wrestling: 16,100
● Arena concerts: between 8,900 and 14,800
● Basketball and tennis: 13,900
● Ice shows and the circus: 13,000
● Ice hockey, lacrosse: 12,920
● Arena football: 12,000
● Amphitheater concerts and stage shows: 5,450
Due to the rights to name the arena being sold over time, the arena has changed names:
● San Diego International Sports Arena (November 17, 1966–1970)
● San Diego Sports Arena (1970–March 19, 2005; May 9, 2007–November 12, 2010; December 1, 2018–December 5, 2018)
● iPayOne Center (March 20, 2005–May 8, 2007)
● Valley View Casino Center (November 13, 2010–November 30, 2018)
● Pechanga Arena (December 5, 2018–present)
