T.A.G. Recording Co.
Настоящее имя: T.A.G. Recording Co.
Defunct low-budget recording studio with duplication and distribution capabilities (making it effectively a record label), active from about 1993 to 2007. They produced many dozens of CDs and cassettes, mostly of relatively amateur Albertan old-time country and gospel musicians. Operated by Tony Greengrass and his brother Al, whose names are likely the source of the acronym T.A.G.
T.A.G. Recording Co. began at Tony Greengrass' home in Whitecourt, Alberta around 1993. In October 1999, a proper retail and studio location was established at 5216C 50 Ave in Wetaskiwin, and all operations moved there. On June 1st, 2002, a concurrent location opened in Lacombe. In 2004, their Wetaskiwin location moved to the adjacent building, 5206 50 Ave, an old movie theater upon which the name "The Rainbow Corral" was bestowed. Besides housing the recording studio, duplication, and retail facilities, this location also became a venue for live country music under the banner "The Rainbow Country Opry".
As well, starting in late 2000, T.A.G. Broadcasting began operating an FM radio station in Wetaskiwin called CIHS-FM, focusing on old-time country and gospel music. In 2007, this station was sold to Satnam Media Group Inc, and was defunct as of 2017.
Their CDs were burned on low-quality media (poor dye stability) with glued-on paper labels (that shrink, causing the discs to warp), thus many are now severely degraded and impossible to play cleanly.
