Kronborg

Danish castle and stronghold at the sea front of Helsingør (Elsinore). Made famous by William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, Kronborg go as far back as a stronghold as the 1420's. The later castle is considered one of the most important Renaissance castles in Northern Europe and is on UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites. From a strategic POV Kronborg controls the most narrow strait between Denmark and Sweden and thus the entrance to the Baltic Sea. The catacombs of Kronborg is also where the mythical hero Holger Danske acc. to the legend slumbers and shall rise when the Kingdom of Denmark is threatened.
