Canadian label founded in Edmonton, Alberta by R. Harlan Smith in 1974. Originally focused on Country & Western music then later expanded to Canadiana, Roots and Alt Rock. In 1978 the Irish label Emerald became the distributor for the UK. Initially formed under Royalty Records Of Canada Ltd., the parent company changed names to Royalty Records Inc. (2) on November 28, 1988. Currently run by Harlan's son Rob Smith.
