A&M Foreplay

Series of promotional sampler records from A&M Records Often issued in die-cut Foreplay sleeves of varying colors and include a promotional booklet with order forms. The Foreplay series was made up of pre-release samplers provided to record stores to highlight forthcoming album releases. The initial (FPS# 1-4) Foreplay albums had two songs crossfaded by each artist, so these were not suitable for airplay. The discs were labeled "Promotion Not For Sale Or Airplay Purposes." At this point, A&M shifted the Foreplay series to a new numbering sequence, which also included other promotional albums. Both release numbers and matrix numbers used the same numbering series.
