Canecão was a traditional Brazilian concert venue located in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro.
Originally conceived as a large brewery opened in 1967, with the show season done by Maysa in 1969, the Canecão concert hall became popular among the artistic milieu and became one of the great national references for medium and large shows in the city. .
The place came to be called Canecão Petrobras at the beginning of the 21st century, but the naming rights contract ended in 2008 with the company Petrobras. The property is owned by the Federal Government and transferred to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
On October 17, 2010, it closed its doors definitively after the former leaders lost the judicial battle that had lasted 40 years. The concert hall was reintegrated to the UFRJ university.
