Miami, Florida, USA studio and field recording service founded c.1945 by former CBS television-sound engineer Harold E. Doane. Operating from the Cadillac Hotel until c.1949 the studio pioneered the use of magnetic tape, accepted in TV, but relatively untried in music. Doane shortened and trademarked the ART logo in July, 1957, under the name Art Records Manufacturing Company. Art Records Manufacturing, Ltd. also appears on subsidiaries such as Panama Alta Fidelidad meant for international distribution. Art Records (3) had short-lived rockabilly subsidiaries Perfect Records (7); AFS Records (American Federation of Songwriters, 1957-58) with partner Mitch Lebow and Souvenir Records (3) to record caribbean cruise line "house" bands (c.1970.)
