Audiophile series of 10 albums released in 1980. All music was recorded at Audio Media Recorders Inc. in Nashville and was mastered and pressed by CBS Records Canada Ltd.. Lab Series technical details: Direct Master: 16 Track Audiophile Recording The pressing for the Lab Series has been developed by CBS Records. The record is made from 100% virgin vinyl and requires a significantly longer pressing cycle than standard discs. The Lab Series pressing weighs between 125 and 128 grams, which is substantially heaver than regular discs. CBS incorporates a 100% inspection procedure to insure the highest quality available. The lacquers are cut from the first generation mixed down tape on a Scully lathe which features the CBS Discomputer®. This discomputer (via a preview head on the MCI tape mastering deck) automatically determines the grooves depth and width. The lathe features the aluminum coil helium cooled Westrex 3D2AH cutting head.
