In the matrix string of CDs glass mastered by EMI UK the capital letter U appears slightly smaller than the other letters. This effect also appears in the matrix strings of CDs glass mastered by EMI Uden and CDP UK Ltd.. The smaller letter does however represent a capital letter U, and the matrix string should be entered as EMI UK. • EMI UK appearing in the matrix area of a CD refers to the former EMI Records Ltd. CD factory at Penny Lane, Swindon, Wiltshire, UK, also known as EMI Swindon. This plant closed in 2002, and EMI UK only started appearing in 2000; earlier pressings usually have EMI SWINDON printed in the matrix. • EMI UK printed in publishing or other company credits refers to another entity such as EMI, EMI Music, etc., but do not guess at what was meant; just use EMI UK to match what is credited on the release.
