Grand Records (7)
Настоящее имя: Grand Records (7)
US label formed in Philadelphia in 1953 and located on Lancaster Avenue. It was founded by Herb Slotkin and recorded a number of R & B vocal groups and a few solo acts and gospel artists. It is today mostly remembered for the recordings by The Castelles who embodied the "Philly Sound" in the early nineteen fifties. In June of 1955, Stan Pat a Philadelphia area radio personality (broadcasting from Trenton, New Jersey) became head of A & R for the label. He was also manager for Screamin Jay Hawkins who made some early sides for the Grand label. Also having some early success on the label were Philadelphia stalwarts Lee Andrews & The Hearts, and The Silhouettes.
