Place De La Monnaie (Muntplein)

Place de la Monnaie (Muntplein) is a square in the centre of the officially bilingual city of Brussels (Brussel in Dutch / Bruxelles in French), the capital of Belgium. The main building on the square is the opera house Théâtre Royal De La Monnaie, Brussels. Monnaie (in French) means Munt in Dutch. Most outdoor concerts on this square were part of the Mallemunt festival, of which the first edition took place in 1974. It lasted until 1992 when it was rebranded Klinkende Munt.
