Miller High Life's "Rock To Riches" Talent Search. A national contest with 60 participating radio stations (1982), put on by Starstream Communications Group, Inc., a Houston based marketing firm.
Originally called Big Music America Corporation in 1981, in 1982 when Miller High life signed on as a financial sponsor the name was changed to Rock To Riches.
In 1981 the contest drove 10,000 tape submissions via 41 radio stations. Ten winners in each location were issued on albums. The albums were sold at $3.98 (150,000 were sold). In 1981 local winners received $500, regional $5000, and nationally $25,000 and Ramsa sound equipment.
In 1982 the contest included 60 radio stations and Atlantic Records agreed to give the winner a shot at single release with option for an album.
